Wild ducks using grandpa’s chicken feeder

This video shows how wild ducks have self-taught to use a treadle chicken feeder called a Grandpa's Chicken Feeder (made in New Zealand). Although not one of the most exciting videos to hit YouTube, it still is significant for people who are considering buying this feeder as it is marketed as being pest and wild bird proof.

As you can see, the wild ducks although too light to operate the treadle feeder and open the lid, wait for a chicken to open the feeder instead and then hop on for a free feed.

The Grandpa's Chicken Feeder is an excellent product and this video should not be seen as a disendorsement just as a reminder that even the best systems can be beaten by smart hungry animals with a bit of forethought…
