lemongrass herb down a fenceline

Lemongrass - one of the key flavourings in exotic Asian cuisine, its oil extract can be used to make insect repellent (citronella), and it's a great garden plant. With so many qualities (I mention even more in the full article) there's little wonder why this plant is so popular in backyards.

This article, explains how to grow lemongrass, some of its other uses in the garden, and finishes with a tasty Thai inspired, lemongrass infused roasted chicken wings recipe which is sure to have your family and friends calling you a Thai guru in the kitchen. Lemongrass

Pumpkin curing near shed window vegetable garden in backgroundHeirloom vegetables what are they and why should we be eating and growing them?

I answer these questions in this article as we start way back in time during the prehistoric era when humans first decided growing food was easier than searching for it.

Plus, we touch on hybrid and GM vegetables vs true-to-type. Also, I detail several of my favourite heirloom vegetables to grow and places where you can acquire or buy that special plant or seed so you can grow your very own living antique...Heirloom!

Gluten free Lime meringue pieCeliac disease and a gluten free diet - what is it? And, what does it all mean? This article gives a quick explanation about celiac disease and why it's so important people who suffer from this disorder ensure they have a gluten free diet.

Just because you may not be gluten intolerant yourself, don't think you can skip this article, because odds are someone around you is intolerant to gluten; therefore, anything you prepare for them to eat needs to be carefully considered or you could make them very ill.

Gluten free food doesn't have to be bland either, actually, it can sometimes be very naughty (in a good way). And, thanks to my mother in-law, she has shared with us her magnificent (but naughty) gluten free lime meringue pie, so have a read and enjoy!Gluten free!

finger lime tree with ripe fruit Product lines for fresh fruit in supermarkets just don't "cut it" anymore. Where has the variety gone? Too often we have to settle for the staple more traditional fruits when other local fruiting trees are laden with exotic and tasty fruit to eat.

It's time to stock your property with a diverse range of fruiting trees so you and your family can enjoy the thousands of delicious varieties of fruit available all year round. As humans we weren't meant to have a boring, one dimensional diet, we were designed to eat a varied and colourful array of different foods to keep healthy.

And, to stay healthy, a large part of the food we need to eat is supposed to be fruit so here's how to start growing and eating more of it...Fresh fruit

quail hatching next to chicken eggs in chinese incubatorEver thought of incubating your own chicken eggs (or any poultry eggs) at home? Have you loved the thought of hatching out your very own fluffy little chicks but found the cost of an incubator prohibitive?

Don't be dismayed any more and hail the might of improving Chinese technology manufacturing, as I introduce the "no name," "no brand," Chinese made incubator, which costs almost as cheap as chips/rice.

When my top brand, excellent (but expensive), American made Hovabator died and fried my quail eggs, I went on the hunt for a replacement incubator and this is what I found... Cheep cheeeeep!!!

Motorola s11 flex HD Wireless Stereo Headphones in action on my head 250Here I go writing about fitness gadgets again, and it's another review about wireless sports headphones, namely, the Motorola S11-Flex HD Wireless Stereo Headphones.

A good set of wireless headphones to accompany me during my workouts is "music to my ears" but wireless headphones a notoriously fraught with connection issues and compatibility problems. How does the S11 stack-up to my testing and lifestyle?

I've been putting the S11 through its paces. Plus, I give some incite as to why I believe gadgets can help keep you motivated to exercise. S11

fat image with beer fat stomachObesity is already one of the biggest killers of people in the world. Nevertheless, our careless approach to the problem world wide and our lack of progress in curbing the growth of people's waistlines makes me wonder why?

"Every second day, we read and hear the warnings about becoming overweight, they tell us the awful statistics of how many people are suffering preventative diseases like diabetes and heart disease and how these problems are directly related to poor diet and not enough regular exercise. Yet, the obesity problem is still growing like a sow on a pig farm fed on straight molasses."
